Our History – Scottsdale Bowls Club

The Scottsdale Bowls Club is situated in the township of Scottsdale in the Dorset Municipality of Northern Tasmania. Established in the 1960’s, the Club has proved to be a valuable asset for the district providing opportunities for residents of all ages to be healthy, active and socially connected. We are a successful club, both on and off the bowling green as well as a community based non-profit organisation.

The Club is located at 30 George Street together with the Scottsdale Returned Services & Community Club. Players have access to a grass green and an all weather synthetic surface. All Bowls members are members of the RSL and Community and have access to all facilities.

The all weather Tiger Turf green was officially opened in September 2009 by Senator Helen Polley representing the Australian Government. The upgrade was the realisation of four years of planning and preparation and a $187,000 grant provided by the Department of Health and Ageing.  This was in addition to funds committed by the club’s 100 members at the time.

The Club currently has approximately 48 full members participating in pennant and club competitions together with additional social members. It services, not only its members, but also several community groups through corporate/community bowls.
